The Barn of Harpers Ferry; Junkyard Jones; 8pm; Americana/Bluegrass
A multi-instrumentalist master of the looper, Junkyard Jones, will stitch an amazing jam together playing bass, dobro, acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, mandolin and an occasional trumpet! Born in Galax, Virginia, the site of the world-famous Galax Fiddler's Convention, Junkyard was introduced to bluegrass and piedmont blues at a young age by his family. Jason's unique musical style is influenced by many great musicians, including Tony Rice, Jerry Garcia, D'jango Reinhardt, Robert Johnson, and Leo Kottke.
Junkyard Jones has become a fixture on the entertainment scene in central and southwestern Virginia, and his contributions to American roots music have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 2016, he won first place in both the banjo and guitar competitions at the Virginia Bluegrass Music State Championships, and his previous album, Patchwork, was included as part of the 'Fresh Sounds in the World of Bluegrass' by the International Bluegrass Music Association.
Whether performing with just a guitar and vocals, or live looping as a one man band, Junkyard Jones is a must-see artist for anyone interested in the rich and diverse musical heritage of the American South.
